Hull based company Arco, the leading safety company, recently opened its
doors to pupils from Francis Askew School to teach them how to stay safe at
home, at school and in the workplace. The Children's University Arco Safety Experience aims to teach children about health and safety in the home, school or workplace and to help raise their aspirations of working.
Joan Irving, supply chain director at Arco said: "Arco is committed to keeping people safe and we are particularly pleased to be working with Hull Children's University in our local community to help young people. The reaction we had from Francis Askew School's visit was all positive with lots of interaction and involvement from the children. We are a local company that has been operating in Hull for the last 125 years and, as many of these children will go on to work in Hull and the surrounding areas, it is important to give them a positive experience of the workplace and show them how to stay safe at work. We look forward to continuing to provide this opportunity to young students through our relationship with Hull Children's University."
John Buttrick from Hull Children's University said: "Today's children are the workforce of the future and whatever job they do it's vital that we teach them these life skills early on. We are indebted to companies like Arco who are prepared to share their knowledge and expertise in helping to make a better future for all children."
The Children's University is an innovative and dynamic project that raises
children's self-esteem, achievements and learning aspirations through the
delivery of literacy focused programmes out of school hours.
