Arco Managers Celebrate Graduation Success

Arco Managers Celebrate Graduation Success

Arco, the UK's leading safety expert, continued the celebrations this week as 14 managers from across the company graduated from Hull College with Chartered Management Institute Diplomas.  Thomas Martin, Arco's joint Managing Director, presented the Diplomas at the graduation ceremony.

The students, who were drawn from across the company and from around its 40 locations in the UK and Ireland, had a range of previous experiences.  The one year course was designed by Hull College in consultation with Arco in order to develop the management capability of the participants and is also aligned with Arco's strategic objectives.  Arco senior line managers were involved in supporting their team members throughout the programme and all candidates completed the course and graduated with flying colours.

Thomas Martin said: "As we celebrate Arco's 125th year in business, this occasion demonstrates the continuing commitment we have to our employees and the value we place on them.  I am immensely proud of their achievement in completing this qualification.  We know that the continued growth and success of this company is largely dependent on having skilled and capable people and we recognise the contribution our people make to helping us maintain and enhance our position as a leader in the safety industry".

For Jimmy Fegan, Indirect Services Manager in Arco's Estates Department, graduating on this course has been a real personal achievement.  He says: "I was one of the more mature students in the group.  I have years of management experience but no formal qualifications and a real fear of academia.  The way the course was structured and the support I received from Arco and Hull College all contributed to making the experience really enjoyable and I am very proud of my qualification.  I learned more about Arco as a business and how my role fits into the bigger picture and as part of the course I had to complete a study on the company's marketing strategy.  This brought me into contact with colleagues I had never met before in an area of the business I hadn't previously understood. I am really grateful to Arco for giving me this opportunity".

Hull College's Product Development Manager, David Godfrey, commented: "We are delighted to be joining Arco in the celebration of its employees' achievements.  We are proud to have been involved with this management development programme which has been a resounding success.  This is primarily down to the hard work of our teaching staff, the dedication and tenacity of the students but, more importantly, the support and commitment given by Arco management to the training programme."
