Arco's product and procurement manager, Paul Lyons, was recently a judge for the Humberside Police Lifestyle Awards.
The event, held at Hull City Hall in November, saw the Eco-maniacs from Hull presented with the Lifestyle Champions award, winning a holiday of a lifetime to Disney World Florida. The team spent their summer revamping the neglected Rockery area of Pickering Park back to its former glory, creating a natural play area with balance beams, tree faces, wooden animals and stepping stones.
Arco's Paul Lyons was on the judging panel that had to decide between all the entrants from the Humberside region. Speaking about the awards Paul said: "Arco has employed people from the Hull and Humberside region for 125 years and consequently we have a strong interest and presence in the local community. We are delighted to support such a worthwhile project. This year's winning team showed exceptional and outstanding commitment to their project and I hope that Florida turns out to be a dream holiday for them. They have earned it."
Set up by Humberside Police, Lifestyle is designed to increase the amount of positive contact between Humberside Police and the young people of the area by encouraging them to become involved in community projects during the long summer holidays. The overall aim is to provide a refreshing and challenging alternative to summer boredom, which will not only occupy their time but also benefit the youngsters themselves and their communities.
