BOHS and HSE to host asbestos roadshow A series of events dedicated to raising awareness among surveyors of the correct way of dealing with asbestos are to be hosted by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).

The Asbestos Roadshows will aim to provide building surveyors with understanding of the new HSE guidelines on the refurbishment and demolition of properties containing asbestos.

Sole traders will also be able to be certified by the newly accredited Asbestos Building Inspectors Certification scheme, which is designed to allow smaller businesses to demonstrate their understanding of the proper practices and workwear involved in asbestos removal.

The events will take place in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Cardiff.

Earlier this month, the HSE spoke of the need for competence and professionalism when removing asbestos, referencing the significant risk posed to the workmen involved.

It warned that contractors found conducting asbestos removals without the proper licensing risked incurring "serious penalties".ADNFCR-1200-ID-19164301-ADNFCR
