Brewery holds safety awareness day Carlsberg has held a second health and safety awareness day at its Leeds brewery, in an effort to boost awareness and improve workplace practices.

Production at the brewery came to a standstill, as employees attended training workshops covering issues such as manual handling, trips slips and falls - and the effective use of personal protective equipment.

Commenting on the event, Carlsberg's Matt Winterburn said: "The events have had a massive effect on our culture and we've had some very positive feedback. The majority of the people who attended were production staff, who in essence are most at risk, and our accident and incident rates have improved immensely."

Mr Winterburn added that the session, which was attended by over 100 employees, have helped to motivate and show them how their actions can improve health and safety at the brewery.

Carlsberg is one of the world's biggest breweries, selling over 7,000 million litres of beer and 2,000 million litres of water and soft drinks annually.
