Claims for workplace accidents have risen

Claims for workplace accidents have risen One of the UK's largest claims companies has reported a 12 per cent increase in the amount of accident at work claims between 2008 and 2009, personalbureau.com reports.

This trend has been partially attributed to television advertising and marketing campaigns that have increased the public's understanding about 'no win no fee' claims, in addition to employees becoming more aware about their personal safety rights.

According to the website, it is now considered more acceptable to hold the employer to account if an accident happens in the workplace.

Personalbureau.com said: "If an accident at work claim is pursued and is successful then it does have an effect on the company's insurance premium.

"On the other hand, it can also help draw attention to the health and safety weak spots within the company and thus these can be learned from and quickly resolved."

Official research conducted by the Health and Safety Executive has suggested that the agriculture industry suffers a disproportionately high number of injuries and fatalities each year.

As a result, the safety authority implores people employed within the sector to use the appropriate workwear, which may include the use of safety gloves.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19753183-ADNFCR
