Companies warned about working at height The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has issued a warning to construction firms about the dangers of working at height.

It stated that firms should ensure hazardous areas are properly marked with safety signs and protected so that workers do not fall, reports the Press Association.

Failure to ensure that labourers are protected as much as possible could result in employers being prosecuted under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Sarah Wadham, HSE inspector, urged companies to ensure they take measures to prevent injuries by taking suitable measures.

In related news, the HSE has been conducting a series of ladder amnesties throughout the country to try to minimise the number of injuries that occur through falls.

Other steps that firms could take to protect workers could be to ensure that suitable personal protective equipment is provided, including safety boots and workwear.

Guidelines on the HSE website advise bosses to ensure that gear fits properly and is well-maintained.
