Company wins award for health and safety record A planning, design and management services firm has scooped a prestigious health and safety award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The charity bestowed the commercial and business services sector award at its occupational health and safety awards 2011 on Halcrow, due to its safety management systems, track record and strong leadership.

Peter Campbell, group safety, health and environment manager at Halcrow, commented: "Halcrow's sector award win reflects the continued hard work of all our employees globally in maintaining excellent standards of occupational safety and health over the year."

Halcrow beat more than 80 other firms to the prize, while the awards attracted nominations from 1,800 entrants.

"The company’s success is as a result of the high quality evidence submitted from employees across all the regions in relation to project delivery, company initiatives and office management," Halcrow said in a statement.

Companies which wish to replicate Halcrow's success could invest in appropriate workwear for their staff.

The use of protective workwear is paramount in order to create a safe and protected work environment. However, there is more to picking the correct personal protective clothing than would first appear. There are various kinds of clothing that are designed to provide various kinds of protection - the wrong protective clothing may not only fail to protect you properly but may actually be considered a hazard in some circumstances and situations.
