Company wins award for safety equipment awareness A construction company has been given an award for health and safety, thanks in part to its training schemes relating to safety equipment, it has been reported.

Thomas Vale Construction won the Silver Helmet for Health and Safety at the Contract Journal Awards, according to Kidderminster's local paper The Shuttle.

Every person working for the company carries a Construction Skills Certification Scheme card, which demonstrates their awareness of safety matters including the correct use of personal protective equipment.

Managing director with the business Tony Hyde said: "Construction is the most dangerous sector to work in and is currently top of the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) agenda."

He added that the HSE is "giving it considerable focus to ensure major improvements" to safety within the building trade.

Thomas Vale's care to health and safety has helped it to achieve an accident rate of just a quarter of the national average.

Most of the firm's work is carried out on a partnering basis.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18377506-ADNFCR
