Construction contractors to compete for £80m NHS contracts The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is set to award construction contracts worth in the region of £80 million, it has been revealed.

Cnplus.co.uk reports that the government body is to choose contractors to deliver a number of projects that begin in April 2010.

An open day will be hosted by the trust for the initial presentation of the projects with an official selection process being completed after the event on October 6th, according to the construction news provider.

Up to six separate companies can be offered a tender with one or more winning contracts on the final project.

Risk assessment is critical for companies that are planning to undertake more than one project at a time with the provision of safety equipment such as safety helmets being one of the primary concerns.

In related news, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recently released a new way of distributing news regarding local authority workers and employees.

With the new scheme users can receive emails, or gain access to an RSS feed or the website to get the latest HSE updates regarding good practice or legislation affecting their sector.
