Consultancy firm warns HSE against putting money before safety A consultancy company has urged the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) not to compromise the safety of wind farm construction workers for the sake of money, reports newenergyfocus.com.

Alan Chivers, chief executive of PMSS, claimed that the renewable energy sector faces an increasing number of health and safety challenges as offshore wind farms become more common.

Mr Chivers argued that the emergence of offshore sites would put the HSE under additional strain, but asked them to not place profit at the forefront of the agenda.

He explained: "It is a more remote and more onerous environment that will dictate our agenda - everything will be bigger, there will be more turbines and they will be further away."

Mr Chivers concluded by stating that health and safety awareness should be a priority for anyone involved in the renewable energy sector.

The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations (1992) states that wind farm construction workers are required to wear safety helmets and safety boots.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19584191-ADNFCR
