Employers receive new food safety qualification Workers at Cranberry Foods have become the first-ever recipients of Food and Drink Qualification's new award in poultry meat inspection.

The company has announced that seven operators received a Level 2 Award for Proficiency in Poultry Meat Inspection.

The course was delivered by Poultec Training at Cranberry Foods' plant in Derbyshire and the safety programme lasted for one week.

Two days training in the classroom was followed by a phase of online assessments regarding food hygiene and health and safety.

Pam Westwood, the human resources manager at Cranberry Foods, claimed that the training scheme is proof of its commitment to improving safety standards.

She added: "It is excellent that the course is designed to cater for those whose first language is not English and recognises their skills."

According to the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations (1992), food industry workers should use safety gloves when they handle items to ensure that disease is not spread.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19623693-ADNFCR
