Employers warned to manage safety properly The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has urged bosses to ensure that they properly manage safety in the workplace.

It said that they should employ professionals to manage a site to make certain that staff remain safe.

HSE representatives said this would make "good safety sense" and could also prevent employers from acquiring a criminal record.

Rob Cooper, HSE inspector, remarked: "HSE is committed to improving conditions in this sector of the construction industry and to prosecuting where standards fall well below those required by law."

He added that anyone considering undertaking construction work or getting someone else to do it, should ask for advice from an architect or engineer about their duties under safety law.

The provision of correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is included under the PPE at Work Regulations 1992.

This may include giving staff safety helmets and training them in the use of suitable workwear.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18928733-ADNFCR
