FSA and Improve to provide food safety training. A new set of guidelines written by Improve in conjunction with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) is hoped to increase the levels of food safety in the industry.

It has taken them six months to assemble the advice, which the creators claim will clarify existing legislation, reports MeatInfo.co.uk.

In addition, recommendations on how to raise levels of training of staff within firms, which should allow them to fulfil their duties safely and efficiently, are included.

Jack Mathews, chief executive of Improve, commented: "It will be of great benefit to employers as it provides comprehensive information on food safety training that will be continually updated."

Safety in the sector, such as the provision of food industry workwear, has been highlighted recently due to an outbreak of salmonella throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland in which 68 people have come down with the illness, reports the Press Association. ADNFCR-1200-ID-18718620-ADNFCR
