FSA focusing on prevention The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is stepping up its efforts to educate small businesses about incident prevention.

It has arranged two workshops in November - in Taunton on the 7th and Cannock on the 21st - aimed at those responsible for safety in small food production companies.

Among the issues that will be covered in the sessions is how to reduce the likelihood of the type of food contamination incident that could prove damaging to a company's financial situation and reputation.

According to the FSA, following its recommendations on food incident prevention could help to improve customer confidence, enhance a firm's sustainability credentials and even cut the risk of it going out of business.

The body will also use the workshops to give advice on how to respond to contamination or environmental pollution incidents.

Food industry workwear can play an important role in safety standards, although Health and Safety Executive figures show that the main cause of injury to workers in the food manufacturing sector are slips on wet floors, falls from height and being struck by vehicles.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18801425-ADNFCR
