Firms reminded of vehicle safety responsibilities Businesses should train their workforce on correct safety procedures regarding the use of vehicles, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has said.

Removals and haulage businesses are among those which use moving vehicles that can present dangers to staff from collisions or falling materials.

HSE inspector Steve Woods said accidents to employees can be avoided if staff are correctly trained on safety procedures and businesses put safe systems of work in place.

"Companies have a duty to ensure that staff are properly trained, that safe systems of work are in place and that all movements of vehicles are properly supervised," he said.

Firms looking to reduce the risk of accidents in their work places could consider providing staff with personal protective equipment, such as safety gloves and hi vis clothing.

They could also instruct workers on the use of safety signs to separate staff from areas where moving vehicles are in operation.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18973330-ADNFCR
