Forum 'allows firms to share health and safety knowledge' Companies will now be able to share useful information regarding health and safety practices due to a new addition to the Strategic Forum Health and Safety working group's website, it has been claimed.

The group set up the forum after concluding that one of the most effective ways to impress health and safety matters on to companies was for them to communicate with each other about relevant issues, reports the Institution of Structural Engineers.

Information from a variety of organisations, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), has been condensed into the one location by the group.

Three sections will be on the web page - practical advice, the regulatory environment and finally, lessons to be learnt from "near hits".

Stephen Ratcliffe, chief executive of the Construction Federation, commented: "I believe this is a great way for the industry to accelerate progress and work in partnership to draw together the very best of health and safety practice across our industry"

Guidelines on the HSE website advise firms to ensure that personal protective equipment like safety gloves or safety helmets fit properly.
