Free safety session to focus on ventilation in bakery sector Staff and employers in the food manufacturing sector are being invited to join a free workshop in March to learn about ventilation hazards in the workplace.

The two free events will take place in Barnsley and High Wycombe and will be hosted by Premier Foods, the UK's largest food manufacturer.

For workers in the bakery industry, the events may be particularly useful as they focus on the health issues surrounding poor ventilation when working with flour.

The Health and Safety Executive's research shows that around 27,000 people in the business are exposed to flour dust, which, along with enzymes in improving agents, is considered to be a hazardous substance under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.

Flour dust is also subject to Workplace Exposure Limits.

The first of the two events will be held on March 2nd, with the second following on March 16th.

Workers and bosses who wish to attend the free events will need to book a place.

Protective workwear could be used by some staff in the bakery industry to prevent injury and mishap.
