HFL publishes process safety benchmarking The first ever process safety management benchmarking programme in the chemical industry has been revealed by HFL Risk Services, bringing together a broad range of guidance.

Process safety management (PSM) has been highlighted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as a 'hot topic' in high-hazard sites.

The new benchmarking programme aims to create a unified approach to PSM in the chemical industry, which may lead to a more widespread use of safety signs and spill kits.

Asset integrity management was at the centre of the system, this being a key aspect and critical risk control system in the prevention of major accidents.

While some areas were described as "world-class", the policy, audit and review aspects of the industry relating to leadership and administration were found to be lacking, the report said.

The programme comes as a result of seven months of consultation, including input from the Chemical Industries Association and National Skills Academy for Process Industries.ADNFCR-1200-ID-800552132-ADNFCR
