HSE agrees safety partnership with British Sugar The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has formalised a longstanding cooperation with British Sugar designed to reduce accident and ill-health risks in the workplace.

The agreement, which marks a significant milestone in the partnership between HSE and British Sugar UK, recognises improvements to the firm's safety performance since 2005.

As part of the agreement, the HSE has pledged to continue to develop proportionate and sensible risk control systems, as well as improving its health and safety performance.

In return, British Sugar UK has agreed to champion the drive to improve workplace protections by striving to be an exemplar in occupational health and safety.

David Ashton, HSE's director of field operations, commented: "British Sugar has put considerable effort into making improvements to its health and safety performance over the last five years - and the results clearly demonstrate how uniting employers and employees together can create safer and healthier workplaces."
