HSE and Hartlepool Council launch new safety initiative The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Hartlepool Council are to launch a joint scheme to help improve risk levels on local industrial estates.

The purpose of the partnership is to raise awareness of the potential dangers in the workplace, while promoting sensible management and improving the overall standards.

Further to this, the HSE has confirmed that it will take enforcement action against companies that fail to comply with legal requirements.

Jane Kett, Hartlepool Borough Council's principal environmental health officer, said: "We'll be looking to ensure that companies are taking the necessary steps to identify and minimise the risks to help ensure a safer workplace for all."

In addition to ensuring that equipment meets the necessary safety standards, the HSE will also check that employees are clothed in the appropriate workwear.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19655671-ADNFCR
