HSE and LA launch new marine safety initiative in Dorset The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Local Authority (LA) have formed a partnership to help improve the safety standards of marine businesses across Dorset.

Inspectors from HSE and Dorset LA are to visit 55 businesses which are considered to be at a high-level of safety risk.

The initiative, which lasts for one week, will particularly focus on improving safety standards in the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Max Walker, HSE head of operations for the south west, explained that the ambition is to prevent illness to workers and the general public in the Dorset area.

He said: "There will be certain common areas when it comes to the type of injuries and risks such businesses suffer and the great advantage of our new partnership visits is that the inspectors, between them, will be able to offer a wide range of expertise."

Meanwhile, the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations (1992) advises engineering workers to wear safety helmets to ensure their wellbeing.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19599156-ADNFCR
