HSE arranges farm-safety event in Kent Hundreds of farmers from three of the Home Counties are meeting today (February 17th) for a safety event aimed at reducing accidents and deaths in the agriculture industry, BBC News reports.

It is anticipated that around 300 delegates from Surrey, Kent and Sussex will attend the free Health and Safety Executive (HSE) meeting at Hadlow College in Kent.

The farmers will be offered help and advice from trained instructors about ways of ensuring their on-farm safety.

Mike Walters, principal inspector for the HSE in Kent, explained that on average one person dies because of incidents on farms every week in the UK.

He told the broadcaster: "These deaths are needless and most could be prevented by taking simple steps to improve safety.

"This event is bringing together farmers from Surrey, Sussex and Kent to make them more aware of the day-to-day risks they face with the ultimate aim of saving lives and preventing future accidents."

To minimise the risk of on-farm injuries occurring, agriculture workers are advised to use the appropriate workwear.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19621278-ADNFCR
