HSE calls for business leadership on new safety strategy The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new five year strategy which calls on business owners and employers to take the lead on implementing health and safety measures.

HSE's Be Part of the Solution scheme is aimed at educating companies from worker to management levels on the importance of good health and safety practice, as well as debunking popular myths about safety provision.

With 25 per cent of businesses facing pressure to cut back on safety budgets, the scheme will also work to establish links between proper health and safety procedure and efficient business performance, as well as the moral and legal obligation of employers to protect workers.

Chair of HSE Judith Hackitt said: "We are calling on employers and business owners to take the lead themselves in preventing the thousands of deaths every year which are caused by work."

HSE will also be looking to expand its provision of free online resources to further educate businesses on their health and safety responsibilities.

Key to the promotion of workplace health and safety is the provision of personal protective equipment, as outlined in the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations of 1992.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19201071-ADNFCR
