HSE changes the way accidents are reported

HSE changes the way accidents are reported Managers whose employees suffer injuries on site will now have to report the incident to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in a different way as the organisation has brought in new arrangements.

Fatal and major injuries can be reported by phone to the HSE, while minor incidents will be recorded via one of seven online forms found on the agency's website.

HSE director of strategy Trevor Carlile commented: "This should not be a significant change for many, as more than half of reportable injuries are already notified to HSE through the website.

"The new forms are intuitive and quick and easy to complete. The most important thing is that there will still be somebody at the end of the phone to assist those who are reporting a traumatic event that has resulted in a death or major injury," he added.

Of course, businesses can take steps to reduce accidents in their workplace by investing in workwear that is appropriate for the kind of tasks their employees will be carrying out.
