HSE holds safety workshop for migrant workers The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be holding an evening workshop in Alloa in Scotland for the country's migrant workers.

On October 9th, those who attend will receive information on their legal rights as well as health and safety information.

Val Holland, health and safety awareness officer, commented: "Migrant workers in Scotland whether in full time or temporary casual employment are entitled to work in a safe and fair working environment."

She added that the law provides protection for all workers whether they are in the country legally or not.

Other topics that will up for discussion will be training in employment rights and how the citizens advice bureau can help workers.

Firms looking to improve the safety of their migrant workers may wish to provide them with personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety helmets, where appropriate.

According to the PPE at Work Regulations 2002, items such as this should fit properly and be well-maintained.
