HSE investigation highlights safety failings of West Yorkshire businesses The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has instructed more than 70 firms across West Yorkshire to make safety improvements to protect their workers.

A two-week inspection initiative found that firms were failing to address serious safety hazards such as flammable liquids not being stored properly and missing or inadequate guards around machines.

Eight of the visits resulted in Prohibition Notices being served, the HSE said.

This means that dangerous activities had to be stopped and action taken before work was allowed to continue.

David Green, HSE principal inspector, warned: "We always prefer to offer guidance and advice to business to help them operate within the law but we will take enforcement action when we find the health and safety of employees are being put at risk."

To reduce the risk of workplace accidents, Britons are strongly advised to use appropriate workwear.ADNFCR-1200-ID-800239329-ADNFCR
