HSE offers vehicle safety advice

HSE offers vehicle safety advice The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a series of interactive webpages to help employers adopt better vehicle safety practices.

The 'before-and-after' case studies are based on real situations encountered by HSE inspectors and aim to alert companies of bad practices they might be engaged in and what they can do to improve the situation.

A variety of scenarios such as a narrow street, a construction site and a newspaper depot are all presented in 360 degree panoramic views showing the unsafe scene that the HSE investigated, with caption boxes detailing the site, the accident and its consequences.

With a click of a button, the scene changes to show how the very same area can be made into a safe working environment.

Many of the accidents described involved the driver of vehicle not seeing the victim and reversing into them.

High visibility clothing should always be warn by workers to help them be seen by vehicle operatives.
