HSE targets repetitive strain injury The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has announced the launch of a campaign in order to raise the awareness of upper limb disorders, otherwise known as repetitive strain injuries (RSI).

A series of events are to be held in the south-west during the second week of February, which will draw attention to the dangers of RSIs.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be discussed as a means of preventing the disorder.

The first seminar will be held at Athelhampton House in Dorset on February 5th, followed on consecutive days by meetings at Bristol Zoo and Exeter Racecourse.

Senior managers and those responsible for health and safety in the processing and food manufacturing industries are the main target audience.

According to a HSE survey from 1995, 500,000 people in the UK suffered from RSIs, causing each to take off 13 days a year on average due to the illness.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18439984-ADNFCR
