HSE to issue workplace safety advice to London firms Companies in Hammersmth and Fulham are set to receive a visit from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), to advise them on the issues surrounding workplace risk management.

The investigations will be carried out on firms on February 9th and 10th, and will focus on how risks are managed in relation to workplace transport, machinery safety and falls.

Though the HSE inspectors will primarily be on hand to provide advice, enforcement action will also be taken if it is considered necessary.

Mike Gibb, the HSE's principal inspector, explained that workplace accidents are often very costly to individual businesses.

He added: "Many of these injuries can easily be prevented and inspectors will be looking at how employers control risks to their own staff and members of the public."

Meanwhile, the HSE recently launched a new campaign designed to reduce the number of slips and falls in the workplace.

The authority claimed that the financial cost of people slipping or falling at work is £800m a year.

As a consequence, construction workers are advised to wear grip-enhancing safety boots on a work site to help minimise the risk of falling.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19603295-ADNFCR
