Health and safety is not top priority for majority of workers, says study Health and safety is not the top priority for many workers, a new report has revealed.

According to IOSH, the European health and safety body, pay (51 per cent) and suitable working hours (26 per cent) topped the list of the most important work-related issues.

Meanwhile, just ten per cent identified health and safety as the most critical issue, while two per cent stated it was holiday entitlement, Workplace Law Network reports.

In spite of this, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is soon to reveal that the number of deaths on construction sites has fallen for the third year in succession.

Official statistics, which are to be released by the HSE in June, are expected to reveal that 35 people died in the industry during the 12 months to April 2010.

In an effort to reduce the number of accidents affecting the construction industry, the HSE encourages Britons employed within the sector to use correct workwear.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19795289-ADNFCR
