Health management tool launched for construction sector The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new tool to provide "practical advice" to the construction industry.

Dubbed the Construction Occupational Health Management Essentials (COHME), the tool is designed to those working in the sector to "tackle" occupational health issues. These include asbestos, respiratory diseases and musculoskeletal disorders.

Commenting on the COHME, Stephen Williams, the chief inspector of construction at the HSE, said: "Properly managing occupational health is not a new legal requirement and we expect to see good practice in the industry."

He also said the executive wants to see occupational health "move up the agenda" for all firms operating in the construction sector and urged both small and large firms to "show ownership" of the issue.

Firms wanting to access the tool can do so on the HSE's website.

The HSE is the enforcing agent of the Health and Safety Commission, which is responsible for all health and safety regulation in Britain and is sponsored by the Department of Work and Pensions. ADNFCR-1200-ID-18457365-ADNFCR
