Hearing protection need highlighted by HSE

Hearing protection need highlighted by HSE Employers are being urged by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to provide hearing protection to their workers.

The body says that more than one million workers in Britain are being put at risk by excess noise levels.

It is targeting the entertainment industry and wants firms in this sector to be aware that simple, cost-effective solutions can protect their workers' hearing.

Employers which already provide equipment such as safety helmets and workwear to safeguard the safety of their employees in the workplace under the Health and Safety Work Act 1974 might consider adding hearing protection to their portfolios.

Liz Brueck from the HSE noted: "Hearing loss caused by noise at work is preventable, but once your hearing is gone it won't come back."

The body is holding a workshop in Lincolnshire on February 17th to highlight the dangers of hearing-related problems such as tinnitus and deafness - which can be caused by regular exposure to high levels of noise at work.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19019005-ADNFCR
