High vis jackets may still be needed even if clocks change

High vis jackets may still be needed even if clocks change Workers will still need to put on their high vis when the clocks go back this weekend (October 30th) as the evenings will get darker more early.

According to the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), the implementation of British Summer Time means that the rate of accidents on the road increase due to the shift to an alternate timing system.

Simon Best, chief executive of IAM, said: "Changing the current summertime system would save lives. We want to see a three-year trial of the new daylight system."

A poll by the group found that 65 per cent of British motorists would support a 'double summertime' system whereby the clocks do not go back but are still put forward when the spring comes around.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has also been campaigning for a change to permanent British Summer Time.

It recently launched a poll to seek to demonstrate public support for such a move.
