Importance of correct workwear and training underlined The importance of using the correct workwear, safety equipment and procedures while working at height has been reiterated.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recently highlighted an event focused on the issue in Glasgow.

It warned businesses of their duty to protect staff and suggested that this extends beyond those with employees working at height.

HSE inspector Sian Tiernan explained that slips, trips and falls cause thousands of accidents each month.

A range of products and solutions exist to help avoid these occurrences, such as specialist non-slip work boots and materials.

"These shattering injuries can be avoided by sensible and proportionate management of the risks," Ms Tiernan said.

The comments follow an incident in which a cleaner was hurt while working at a power station in Nottinghamshire.

Despite the man being given a harness and instructions, he was untrained in using the equipment and injured himself as a result.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19391629-ADNFCR
