Lagoon report highlights danger of chemical drums A report on a lagoon in north Wales believed to be contaminated has concluded that at present the lake does not present a public danger, but warns this could change if drums believed to contain dangerous substances corrode and leak.

The Llwyneinion lagoon near Rhos was deemed not contaminated even though the barrels were described in an environment agency report as being too dangerous to test, the Wrexham Evening Leader reports.

It also said the status could alter should he barrels leak.

Local councillor Paul Pemberton told the paper: "I would only be happy if the site was cleared or if someone would say the site won't pose any problem now or in the future."
Faced with situations such as chemical contamination, workers carrying out such inspections may use personal protective equipment to avoid potential harm.

The London Olympic site is one such location where this kind of equipment could come in useful.

Amid concerns that the Olympic Park in Stratford is being constructed on a location contaminated with radioactive thorium, a radium dial was found at the location last week, the East London Advertiser reports.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18331115-ADNFCR
