MP raises ice safety concern An MP has brought to attention the potential dangers of icy conditions in the UK.

Rosie Cooper, Labour MP for west Lancashire, claims not enough is being done to prevent road accidents caused by weather conditions, reports Click Liverpool.

She suggested that the Health and Safety Executive could investigate current gritting policies in the region.

"In these times of climate change with greater extremes of weather we are asking people to modify their behaviour. Lancashire county council should do the same," Ms Cooper said.

Icy weather conditions can also create safety hazards at UK workplaces, particularly if workers slip or trip when carrying materials or using equipment.

Employers could consider providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to try and avoid accidents and injuries in the workplace.

Under PPE at Work Regulations 1992, firms are expected to ensure staff are trained in the correct use of safety equipment and clothing - such as safety boots and safety signs.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18978060-ADNFCR
