New bluetongue case found in Cambridgeshire A new case of bluetongue disease has been discovered in cattle near Pymoor, in Cambridgeshire.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has confirmed the case and a new zone has been put in place to control the movement of livestock in the region, the BBC reports.

In September the chief veterinary officer for Wales Dr Christianne Glossop stressed the importance of biosecurity on farms in the event of an outbreak of bluetongue or foot and mouth.

Businesseye.org quoted the expert as discussing the personal protective equipment worn by those coming into contact with farms.

She stressed the need for everyone to make sure that all physical protective clothing is cleaned properly using suitable disinfectants.

The new case of bluetongue is the second this month with a case being spotted in Peterborough.

Bluetongue, which is spread by midges, is not contagious.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18336283-ADNFCR
