New certification welcomed by IOSH The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) has asserted its support for the new European Certification Standard, which is to be introduced on September 16th.

It has been set up by the European Network of Safety and Health Professional Organisations (ENSHPO) and is hoped to verify the levels of competence of occupational health and safety professionals.

Professor Andrew Hale, chairman of the certification committee, commented: "We're pleased with IOSH's strong support of this initiative which is a significant step forward for European health and safety professionals."

He added that the intention of the committee in creating the standard was to provide a common method of certification across Europe and help "easier recognition of equivalent qualifications across member states".

Health and safety consultants may be able to provide firms with information on the correct personal protective equipment - such as safety gloves and spill kits - which is needed for a task.

In related news, a recent YouGov poll found that two-thirds of people surveyed would not report their employers for breaches of health and safety legislation. ADNFCR-1200-ID-18757468-ADNFCR
