Norwich Union releases safety guide

Norwich Union releases safety guide Norwich Union has released a new guide outlining the dangers of trips and slips in the workplace, as part of its Simply Safety series.

The launch of its latest information guide has been done to coincide with the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE's) Shattered Lives campaign, which promotes the use of PPE to prevent workplace accidents.

Phil Grance, liability risk manager for Norwich Union comma says businesses can take "simple steps" to improve safety, such as installing non-slip surfaces.

"If a floor surface cannot be kept dry, it should be sufficiently rough so that people have less chance of slipping, regardless of any liquids that may be on the surface. Preventing liquid escape, fixing leaks and cleaning up spills can also help reduce slips and trips," he advised.

According to HSE figures, around 50 per cent of falls are caused by "bad housekeeping".

This latest Simply Safety guide is the organisations third advice booklet of the year - with information on asbestos and risk assessments being published previously.
