Organisation offers safety equipment tips to returning businesses The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) has advised businesses on what safety precautions need to be taken when resuming operations after a break caused by bad weather.

Its tips ranged from the checking of air quality and structural integrity of buildings, to cleaning up waste safely.

"Implement your clean-up and business resumption processes in a safe and healthful manner," the body said.

"Provide training in proper selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for your employees and yourself such as eyewear, gloves and dust mask/respirators."

The comments were aimed at businesses that had been affected by storms, although it is possible that the group's advice could also be applied to those suffering from flood damage.

Another area involving safety equipment that the ASSE suggested should be looked at was fire alarms.

Warehouses and other similar workplaces should have fire alarms strategically placed around the building, according to the Health & Safety Executive.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18464568-ADNFCR
