PPE may have prevented deaths in north-west

PPE may have prevented deaths in north-west Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may have helped to prevent some of the work-related deaths in the north-west of England, had it been used more often.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the north-west has the highest injury toll, with Greater Manchester being the worse culprit in the region.

One expert has argued that a lot of the deaths in the area were unnecessary.

Regional director for the Health and Safety Executive in the north-west David Ashton said: "Many of the 33 north-west worker deaths and much of the ill health could have been prevented by simple and sensible precautions.

"I call on all businesses to act now to help stop this toll. It is not a matter simply for the HSE to prevent."

PPE can help to prevent injuries in the work place.

According to the HSE's most recent statistics, 274,000 injuries were reported as taking place at work over the past year.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18343528-ADNFCR
