Pharmaceutical manufacturer enhances storage facilities A company that manufactures high-grade pharmaceutical narcotics was ordered to improve its storage by Health and Safety Executive Inspectors.

The inspectors identified tonnes of flammable materials stored together and incorrectly at the site in Edinburgh.

A large amount of toxic material was also found at the site.

The company told the Edinburgh Evening News that it had installed a water-based barrier and that the incompatible materials had been separated.

A spokesman explained: "The notice related to the incompatible storage of flammable and toxic materials in one of our storage areas."

He added that it was told to conduct a risk assessment - the results of which were acted on – and that all the terms of the notice were complied with.

Avoiding injuries or accidents in workplaces like this can be done by providing spill kits, safety gloves and safety signs.

Recently a garage worker sustained serious burns due to incorrectly stored flammable materials.
