Safety advice issued to Polish migrant workers A new website is to be launched by a local council to provide migrant workers from Poland with health and safety guidance, a source claims.

Slough borough council hopes that the online resource will give employees from the eastern European country information on how to maintain a higher level of health and safety in the workplace, reports the Slough Observer.

Thomas Kilduff, senior environmental health officer, suggested that crucial information will be more accessible and that it was part of a larger scheme to target high-risk groups within the workforce.

He commented: "We identified Slough as having a high percentage of migrant workers, most notably from Poland, and felt the council could reach these residents by providing information on the site."

An important health and safety measure that employers need to ensure workers are aware of is the correct application of personal protective equipment such as safety helmets and hi vis clothing.

In related news, the Health and Safety Executive recently teamed up with the STUC to remind voluntary organisations of their responsibilities towards unpaid labourers and helpers.
