Safety authority launches new investigation of construction industry The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced the launch of a new investigation into major hazards in the construction industry, hvnplus.co.uk reports.

As well as helping to push safety to the top of the sector's list of priorities, it is thought the report could become the first of its kind to inform the post-election government.

Mike Cross, the HSE's head of the construction engineering specialist team, explained that the authority is still to conclude the report, but promised that any pressing concerns would be brought to the attention of the government.

Further to this, Mr Cross revealed one of the principal reasons for the study was to examine whether the HSE was focusing on the right areas of construction.

He told the website: "We are never so arrogant to think we have all the questions, let alone all the answers.

"We need to know, are we concentrating on the right things? Are all the bases covered?”

To lower the number of injuries occurring in the construction industry the HSE encourages people to use the appropriate clothing, such as safety boots and safety gloves, when they are on-site.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19637097-ADNFCR
