Safety laws concern small businesses

Safety laws concern small businesses Small businesses in the UK find it hard to comply with all the health and safety laws required of them, a recent study revealed.

According to research conducted by the Forum for Private Business (FPB) about one quarter of businesses are concerned that they will be prosecuted by a regulatory body, such as the Health and Safety Executive.

The FPB has pointed out that there are enough issues facing small business in the UK at the moment.

However, in order to ensure that health and safety is not abandoned, it is working to provide more online resources, such as risk assessments , to help establish whether more safety measures or equipment need to be taken or provided.

This might include erecting safety signs in dangerous areas or giving staff the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety boots or hi vis clothing, as is required under the PPE at Work Regulations 1992.

Despite many firms fearing prosecution, some 37 per cent said that compliance was important to improve working practices. ADNFCR-1200-ID-19181814-ADNFCR
