Safety made priority at dairy A dairy in Scotland has taken a number of steps to ensure that workers are safeguarded against slips and trips.

While food safety workwear is essential for protecting consumers, it is also important to ensure that employees are protected in the workplace.

Jill Clark, head of the Inverness-based Connage Highland Dairy, said the welfare of staff is a priority for the company.

Among the measures taken to ensure that staff are not injured is the installation of a non-slip floor surface in the preparation and manufacturing area.

"As a responsible employer, we take the safety of our staff very seriously," she said.

She added that her firm supports the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE's) Shattered Lives campaign which is hoped to minimise the number of incidents at work.

Guidelines on the HSE website advise firms to ensure that personal protective equipment, such as safety gloves, is kept in good condition and that all items fit employees properly. ADNFCR-1200-ID-19087764-ADNFCR
