UK poultry farmers offered PPE advice An expert has offered advice to businesses involved in poultry farming regarding personal protective equipment (PPE) and how it can be used to fight bird flu.

ThePoultrySite reported on a statement from DuPont Animal Health Solutions (DAHS), which outlined the safety clothing that should be worn by people working on farms, in light of the H5N1 outbreak in Suffolk.

"Personnel must be provided with and wear personal protective equipment comprising of respirator face mask, eye protection, coveralls, heavy duty rubber gloves and rubber or polyurethane boots," it said.

Communication equipment between the farmhouse and the entrance to the farm should be set up as well.

DAHS also suggested that workers should decontaminate their flocks "in accordance with a terminal biosecurity programme".

The company went further, saying that all visitors to farms within contamination zones should use wheel disinfection baths and foot dips.

DAHS is a business that focuses upon environmental disease prevention.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18366745-ADNFCR
