UK to give swine flu aid to foreign nations Businesses in the UK may decide to invest in safety signs to help educate workers on stopping the spread of infection after it was revealed the country is to plough up to £23 million into helping tackle swine flu in developing nations.

The H1N1 pandemic is now a global issue and the development secretary Douglas Alexander recently revealed the government is set to help fund vaccinations in other countries.

As part of the aid package, the UK will also make the vaccine available to the World Health Organisation on a rolling basis as it becomes available in order to prepare it for emergency distribution.

"The UK has been at the forefront of the response to swine flu," Mr Alexander said.

"We acted swiftly and decisively to protect our citizens against this threat and this announcement will not adversely affect UK preparedness."

He added the government recognises the threat extends beyond Britain's borders and suggested "solidarity" is the way forward.

Meanwhile, the government has urged businesses to educate their staff about how to stop the spread of infection to limit the number of absences due to swine flu.ADNFCR-1200-ID-19368636-ADNFCR
