Waltham Forest council launches safety certification scheme Safety sign customers near Waltham Forest council could be the next organisation to receive certification for their health and safety standards.

The authorities in the region have launched a scheme in which the safety systems of firms are examined and those reaching a certain level earn a certificate of minimum standards (CMS).

Once earned, the CMS can be displayed for three years before it needs to be renewed.

However, organisations need to ensure they meet certain criteria, such as safe staff recruitment, child protection and health and safety.

This might include providing workers with suitable personal protective equipment for any dangerous tasks, or installing safety signs to warn of potential hazards.

The Health and Safety Executive is currently running its Shattered Lives campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of slips, trips and falls in the workplace.

In the education sector, 60 per cent of serious injuries last year were caused by accidents of this sort. ADNFCR-1200-ID-19105394-ADNFCR
